Homeopathic Remedies for Children

Homeopathic remedies for children
For animal bites*
Ledum 30 reduces the pain caused by a dog or cat bite. Four pills of Ledum 30 should be given immediately after the bite with the dosage of four pills thrice day for four days. If your child is bitten by a stray dog or cat, you need to visit a doctor for possible vaccination against rabies and / or tetanus.
*This remedy should be used only for cases where the animal is a domesticated pet that has been vaccinated.
For bruises and abrasions
Bruising is a common childhood injury. For bruising, Arnica 30, to aid blood clotting and treat excessive bleeding, is one of the best homeopathic remedies for children. It helps to stop bleeding, minimise swelling, and protects against infection. Four pills should be given to the child every half an hour post the injury until the bleeding is in control. The dosage can be continued with four pills thrice a day for three to four days.
For burns and scars
Put eight drops of Cantharis tincture in half a cup of water along with eight drops of Calendula. This mixture should be consumed orally and also should be applied to the burn area. This treament helps to prevent secondary infections and speeds up the healing process.
For colds
There are different types of colds, each of which can be treated at specific stages with homepathic remedies for kids. The dosage for each of the following prescriptions is is four pills thrice a day for three to four days.
- A cold caught due to seasonal changes can be treated by Dulcamara.
- A cold caused due by dry air or the air conditioner can be treated by Aconite 30.
- A sudden onset of a cold accompanied by high fever can be treated by Belladonna 200.
- The first stage of cold, when a child begins to sneeze, can be treated with the help of Natrum muriaticum.
- A cold which develops over a few days resulting in excessive coughing can be treated by Bryonia 200.
- The secondary stage of cold, where a child may go through severe sinusitis, can be treated with Kali Bichromium 200.
- The onset stage of a cold, where a child is irritable, and shows no desire to drink water, can be treated with Pulsatilla.
For eruptions and boils
Boils that are painful and filled with puss can be settled with Hepar sulphuris 200. It also helps to combat any kind of secondary infection caused by boils.
For food poisoning, diarrhoea and vomiting
These conditions can be treated with Arsenicum album 200. Dosage: four pills thrice a day for two to three days.
For mosquito and insect bites
Acetic Acid 30 works well on insect bites and stings. You can also apply Calendula mother tincture if there is inflammation of skin and redness. If there is an excessive burning feeling, redness, or swelling, then Apis 30 should be used. Dosage for Acetic acid and Apis 30 is four pills thrice a day for three to four days.
For nausea and dizziness
These condition can be remedied with Cocculus 200, four pills thrice a day for two to three days.
For pinched nerves
For injuries caused by, say, trapping fingers in doors or other impact, can be treated with Hypericum 30; four pills thrice a day for three days.
For rashes and skin allergies
Rashes can be treated with Calendula mother tincture. It can also cure discoloration of skin after an injury. It works well on diaper rashes as well. It is a liquid form of medicine that can be applied three to four times a day.
For sprains, muscel strains or joint pain
Thes injuries can be treated with Rhus tox 30, four pills thrice a day for two to three days.
For stage fright or restlesness
If your child suffers from stage fright or restlessness before a big event you can give her Argentum nitricum 200. A dosage of four pills half an hour prior the event will help settle your child’s anxiety. If the anxiety persists, then continue to treat with four pills thrice a day for four days.
For teething or colic
Chamomilla 30 is known to work wonders on teething and colic. It can also be given to newborns suffering from evening colic. The symptoms of colic include cranky behaviour, a hard / sore stomach, lack of hunger, and demand for attention. Four pills of Chamomilla should be given three times a day for three to four days.
For travel sickness
All forms of travel sickness can be treated with Coca 30. This also works well on altitude sickness. The dosage for Coca 30 is four pills thrice a day for three days. In addtion to the Coca 30, if the child feels fatigued along with travel sickness, you can also give a dose of four Arnica pills thrice a day for two to three days.
